In less than six months, when a new council takes the dais for the reorganization meeting in July, 40 percent of it may be made up of new faces.
That’s because along with Councilwoman Heidi Kleinman, who is not seeking re-election and will end her term in July, Councilman Will Anklowitz may be sitting at an even higher dais — as a Superior Court Judge. And he may be leaving council much sooner than July.
Anklowitz, a certified criminal trial attorney, was scheduled to appear before a Senate committee for a hearing on March 2 for confirmation of the governor’s nomination. But because the winter snow storm shut down state offices on March 2, the hearing was rescheduled for Monday, March 9, where Anklowitz will have to answer questions from the panel, who will most likely make a decision by the end of the day over whether to assign him as judge.
