‘An Act of Faith, a documentary film produced and directed by Diane Ciccone of West Windsor, will be screened at Ellarslie Museum in Cadwalader Park, Trenton, on Sunday, February 21, at 2 p.m. The film tells the story of Glen Acres, an integrated neighborhood off Alexander Road in West Windsor. The showing will be followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A session. Ciccone will moderate this event. A panel of architects and community leaders will discuss today’s challenges. $10 includes refreshments.
The film was an outgrowth of the 50th anniversary of Glen Acres in 2008 when Ciccone, an African American lawyer, decided to tell the story. “I really wanted to tell their story,” she says. “It’s an important story because you really need to know where you came from if you want to know where you’re going. They were a group of people living together because they believed in a world where a person is not judged by the color of his skin.”
An Act of Faith received an honorable mention at the 2013 New Jersey Fall International Film Festival in the short document category and an honorable mention at the 2013 Black Maria Film Festival. Visit www.ellarslie.org or call 609-989-1191 for information.
