Kris Kolluri of West Windsor became the first Indian governor of New Jersey when he stood in for Jon Corzine on December 28. He was also the 117th person to become acting governor of the state. As transportation commissioner, he is the fourth in line to fill in for the governor, behind the state Senate President, assembly speaker, and attorney general, all of whom had plans to be out of town.
After being sworn in at ceremony in Red Bank, Kolluri had no plans to make any big changes to the government that day. He did plan an n evening visit to Drumthwacket, the governor’s mansion, with his wife, Lopa, and their daughters, Mira, 5, and Rania, 19 months.
