The India Foundation of Metropolitan Princeton holds its biggest event of the year, the annual cultural show, at High School North on Saturday, December 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. The event showcases Indian culture and the talent of youth.
“Several choreographers participate with hundreds of kids from the community performing traditional Indian classical, folk dances, and hip-hop dances to the tune of the latest Bollywood hit songs,” says Sanjay Phanse, president of the nonprofit organization serving the Indian community in the greater Princeton area. “More than 1,000 people usually attend.”
Students of several area choreographers and musicians will perform. Dance schools and choreographers include Sensational Dance Group, Rashmi Kulkarni; Aaja Nachle, Uma Kapoor; Nrutyarpan School of Dance, Senha Kulkarni; Archana Fusion Arts, Archana Savkar; Nupur School of Dance, Madhavi Devasthale; Yogeshwari Dance Academy, Mohini Bhave; Prerna School of Dance, Beena Shah; Exodus Dance, Rohit Girjare and Sarita Joshi; Rhythm Dancers, Trupti Kotian; and Abhinaya School of Kuchipudi Dance, Gayatri Saripalli.
There will be vendors selling clothing, jewelry, arts, handicrafts, sarees, kutis, handbags, Kashimiri shawls, shoes, and more.
