When it comes to Valentine’s Day, Robbinsville eateries don’t miss a beat. Take a tour of some of the town’s ‘hearty’ dishes and desserts.

Eateries in Robbinsville are ready to paint the town red. Or, at least, its food red.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, six establishments in Robbinsville shared some of the ways they plan on celebrating the holiday this month. Not surprisingly, there is a lot of red and a lot of hearts.

The following items are just a selection of what’s being offered in town this February. From Town Center to Windsor, breakfast to dessert, our tour of Robbinsville’s “hearty” dishes can whet your appetite.

SadieCake’s Cafe: Desserts

Valentine’s Day comes early to Town Center, thanks to SadieCake’s Cafe. Red velvet whoopie pies, Linzer tarts, decorated sugar cookies, cupcakes and chocolate-covered strawberries are just a small selection of what the busy bakers at SadieCakes have planned this month. Expect items to hit the shelves the first week of February. Call store for pricing.

Jim’s Bagel Loft: Red Bagels

Every year on Valentine’s Day, customers at Jim’s Bagel Loft ask for red bagels, leaving the Lillis family no choice but to make them. They taste no different, with the addition of red food coloring merely giving Jim’s a splash of Valentine’s Day spirit. It allows clients to start celebrating the holiday at breakfast.

David Bradley Chocolatier: Edible Chocolate Box

Robbinsville’s chocolate factory offers fresh alternatives to the freeze-dried chocolates sitting on grocery store shelves. One waste-free bet is an edible chocolate box arrangement. Customers can pick from boxes filled with chocolate-covered pretzels ($26.95), an assortment of milk and dark chocolate ($29.99) or—for the kids—Sour Patch Kids or sliced fruit ($14.95 or under).

Centro Grille: Heartbeet Salad

When Centro Grille owner Joe Immordino wanted to capture the essence of Valentine’s Day, he came up with the ‘heartbeet salad”—a dish that includes heart-shaped beets, hearts of palm, and strawberries topped with a chocolate-infused Balsamic vinaigrette ($9). For dessert, Centro will offer a special, heart-shaped version of its flourless chocolate torte.

Dolce & Clemente’s: Ravioli

Don’t want to fight the crowds eating out? Dolce and Clemente’s Italian Gourmet Market is hoping so, and has compiled Valentine’s Day packages that will allow customers to dine in and dine well. Among the special offerings are pink, heart-shaped ravioli, an item that captures both the spirit of the holiday and the eatery. Call for pricing.

Papa’s Tomato Pies: Tomato Pie

A picture on the wall of Papa’s Tomato Pies has immortalized the time owner Nick Azzaro made a heart-shaped tomato pie for his daughter. You won’t find the creation on the menu, but you can have your very own—if you ask ($14 for a large). The kitchen staff might even spell out a custom message on the pie in toppings, if they aren’t busy.
