Kites are set to soar above Terhune Orchards May 4 and 5.
Terhune Orchards’ annual spring celebration, Kite Day, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4 and 5.
Visitors can bring their own kites or buy one at the farms. After building and decorating a kite, children and their parents can fly it.
Other activities include old-fashion games like pin-the-tail-on-the-piggy and bean bag toss.
Terhune’s animals Mexicali the horse, MacIntosh the donkey, Egg the duck and dogs named Apple and Peach, along with cats, rabbits, geese and chickens are set to say hello to visitors.
On Sunday at 2 p.m., Joel Markevey is set to shear sheep of their winter coats. Visitors can take home a piece of souvenir piece of wool.
Participants can take a tractor-drawn wagon ride through Terhune’s fields of asparagus and apple and peach orchards.
Bee keeper Ken Walters of Yellow Bee and about 1,000 of his buzzing friends are set to explain how honey is made using an enclosed demonstration hive at at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both days.
Local bands are set to perform from 12 to 4 p.m. on both days. John and Carm are scheduled for Saturday and Riverside is scheduled for Sunday.
Barbecued chicken, hot dogs, vegetarian chili, salads, cookies, doughnuts, apples, soups, cider and grilled asparagus are set to be served at Pam’s food tent.
Admission and parking are free.
The farm is located at 330 Cold Soil Road in Lawrenceville.
