More than 20 environmental group are set to present about nature and sustainability at the Mother Nature Festival May 11.
The festival is scheduled for 12 to 4 p.m. at the Lawrence Nature Center, 481 Drexel Avenue, Lawrence.
This year’s program is about experiencing nature and conservation. It begins at 1 p.m. with nature hikes and a rain garden workshop.
A presentation by the Shade Tree Commission is set for 1:30 p.m. followed by a wildlife show by the Philadelphia Zoo at 2 p.m.
“Solar Man” Lyle Rawlings is set to present at 3 p.m. A presentation called The Buzz about Honey and Honeybees is also scheduled for 3 p.m.
The festival concludes with a Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts dedication at 3:45 p.m.
Additionally, 4-H Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County, GEPNA, S.A.V.E., the Garden Gate Garden Club of Lawrence, Mercer County Soil Conservation District and AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors are set to be on site.
Eli the Hawk is scheduled to play Americana music.
Attendees can also stroll through the center’s meadow, trails, bird station and butterfly, native plant and rain garden.
Hands-on activities are set for the festival’s Children’s Corner.
Candela Ristorante & Pizzeria is set to sell food and beverages.
Admission is free. This event is rain or shine.
The Friends of the Lawrence Nature Center, Sustainable Lawrence and the township’s Environmental Resources and Sustainability Green Advisory Committee are sponsoring the festival.
