On May 20, 2015 Dress for Success Mercer County hosted 200 guests at their inaugural women’s luncheon at the Westin Princeton. The program included a dynamic panel presentation headed by Helene Lerner, CEO and founder of Creative Expansions, Inc.
Lerner has covered women’s issues for over two decades across a number of platforms including her interactive website, womenworking.com, promoting dialogue between professional women. At the event, Lerner led a discussion on “Redefining Confidence: The Art of Moving Forward” drawing on her latest publication, “The Confidence Myth: Why Women Undervalue Their Skills and How to Get Over It.”
Lerner was joined by four panelists including Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Princeton Judy Hutton, Senior Manager of Global Trade Compliance at Johnson & Johnson Karol Moss, Princeton Complex Managing Director of Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management Deborah Shepherd and PNC Bank of Princeton Vice President and Branch Manager Lucia Stegaru. The panelists shared personal and professional anecdotes speaking to critical points in their journey to find confidence and overcome obstacles.
Founded in 2007, Dress for Success Mercer County has served over 3,300 women in the region through a continuum of career services. Through the programs, disadvantaged women referred to Dress for Success from social service agencies are empowered to gain employment, support their families and meaningfully contribute to the community. Four core programs provide the foundation for success: Professional Suiting, Career Center, Going Places Network sponsored by the Walmart Foundation, and the Professional Women’s Group.
Dress for Success Mercer County has recently expanded through the Trenton and Latina Initiative Program which offers a full clothing boutique and career center services at partner agencies in Trenton.
