Mercer County high school students were recognized at the 29th annual Caring Awards Breakfast, hosted by the Mercer County Professional Counselors Association (MCPCA) on April 23rd at Mercer County Community College.

These students were recognized for their deeds of respect, compassion, service to others and integrity. Counselors from local high schools honored the students by sharing the altruistic projects they completed and presented them with an award at the breakfast ceremony.

Foundation Collegiate Academy took the time to recognize George Guadron for his commitment to his school community. He helps his teachers and peers through his intuitive acts, and is also wise beyond his years and unapologetically himself. These characteristics make him a role model at FCA.

Lawrence High School acknowledged Matthew McCormack for his strength academically and also for his contributions to Operation Smile and Helping Honduras. As the President and founder of Helping Honduras, Matthew has been able to put his compassionate instincts to good use.

Daniel Levinson from Mercer County Technical School was recognized for his involvement in HSA’s Relay for Life, his hours of community service and his kindness to his peers. Through the debate team, he exemplified leadership by articulating feedback constructively, calming the nerves of others and speaking eloquently on his point.

Nutsa Tskipurishvili from Notre Dame High School was honored for her countless hours of service and the diversity of programs that she helped coordinate and participate in. She helped plan and coordinate trips and events for her fellow classmates with organizations such as Visitation Home, Little Kids College and Special Olympics.

Nottingham High School presented Vachelyn Jupiter with the Caring Breakfast nomination for her involvement with the Haitian Student Association as an Academic Mentor. While only a sophomore, she demonstrates she is a role model every day by giving her peers someone to look up to and allowing her motivation to drive her forward to reach her goals.

Brittany Cruz was recognized by Princeton High School for her positive energy, leadership and maturity, as well as her church, school and community involvement. In addition to being a three season athlete, she received the Mayor’s award for service to her community and leads her peers through organizations like Team Pep and Peer Groups.

Another recipient is Faith Edwin from Trenton Catholic Academy. She makes lunches for the homeless, collects food for Thanksgiving drives and warmly welcomes international students to the halls of TCA. Outside of her community, she has traveled to Costa Rica and Africa to create safe housing for endangered animals.

West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North chose to distinguish Carly Weinberg for her involvement with the LARKS program. In addition to her friendly, positive and kind nature around her peers, she worked with disabled students in the LARKS program – chaperoning field trips, participating in PE classes and overseeing the café.

Jenna Bailin was West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South’s honoree for her enthusiastic and positive disposition, combined with her sensitivity to others. She began a “backpack campaign” for students in the elementary schools who needed school supplies, is a junior counselor for the preschoolers and visits Bear Creek Assisted Living Home weekly.
