Lady and the Shallot, the long-time vegan restaurant stand in the Trenton Farmers Market, is planning a move out of the market and into a bricks-and-mortar location.
Co-owners Francesca Avitto and Kate Wnek announced last week via social media that they plan to move into a new location in Campus Town at The College of New Jersey within two or three months.
“It’s been a big dream of ours to have our own brick and mortar and it’s finally coming true,” Wnek said. “We can’t wait.”
The plan is for the restaurant to be open seven days a week and to offer some new menu items, although the most popular dishes on the current menu, such as the rainbow tacos, will remain, Wnek and Avitto said.
The restaurant will continue to operate at the farmers market for the time being.
Wnek and Avitto had a catering business before opening Lady and the Shallot in the farmers market in 2018. The all-vegan, plant-based menu includes greens and grains bowls, taco bowls and baked sweet potatoes topped with a variety of vegan ingredients including avocado, tofu, beans and roasted cauliflower. They also offer the same range of toppings on top of air-fried potatoes, breakfast sandwiches and wraps, soups, sides, desserts, a Sunday brunch menu and more. Web: ladyandtheshallot.com.
