Weichert, Realtors Princeton presents a check for $1,000 for the HomeFront 2-for-1 challenge on July 30, 2015.
Joshua Wilton, manager of the Weichert, Realtors Princeton office, announced that the office has donated $1,000 to HomeFront, an organization whose mission is to end homelessness in Central New Jersey, as part of its 2-For-1 Challenge.
In November 2013, HomeFront acquired, at no cost, an 8.5-acre decommissioned naval base that is the site of their new Family Campus. The Campus will include the space and resources to provide tools to help families become self-sufficient. Some of the amenities will include computer rooms for children, training courses to obtain a high school diploma, a library, a teaching kitchen, 24-hour child care and much more. Because of the high cost of construction, The David Tepper Charitable Foundation, Inc. created the 2-For-1 Challenge, which matches every dollar raised with two dollars. Currently, the Foundation has raised $4.5 million.
Since its inception 20 years ago, HomeFront has worked to break the cycle of poverty and end homelessness in Central New Jersey, serving thousands of Mercer County families. In the past year alone, almost 14,000 heads of households walked through its front door looking for help. Started by volunteers providing meals for families living in welfare motels, HomeFront has since developed a holistic array of services for clients who are either homeless or at high risk of becoming so. More than 1,200 volunteers work with HomeFront each year to provide families with everything from food, goods and services to assistance in locating jobs and housing.
