VOICES Chorale is taking steps to expand its educational outreach.
The organization appointed a new Assistant Conductor and Choir Intern to help develop the department.
Recent Westminster Choir College graduate, Brittany Montoro, was appointed to a two-year position as Assistant Conductor. She earned a Master of Music and Sacred Music and studied organ with Ken Cowan at the college.
Montoro is also the organist and choir director at First United Methodist Church in Freehold, instructor in piano and voice at the Branchburg School of Music, and accompanist for the Rider University Chorale.
As assistant conductor, Montoro will conduct select works at concerts and apprentice in artistic administration.
She is set to make her VOICE conducting debut with five songs from Brahms’ Zigeunerlieder 8p.m. March 9 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton.
The College of New Jersey junior, Evan Wallach, was appointed a one-year position as an intern.
AT TCNJ, Wallach studies guitar with James Day and previously studied voice with Phillip Cave and Robert Guarino. He is a singer in the TCNJ Chorale.
He also founded the college’s Handbell Choir. He manages and conducts the ensemble.
Both are set to work with VOICES’ educational outreach, which includes the Young Composer’s Project.
Now in its twenty-fifth year, the Young Composer’s Project invites children ages five to 12 to write their own song. The deadline for entries is March 1.
