VOICES Chorale, one of the area’s premier community choruses with over 50 members, is set to hold auditions on Monday, January 4, and Monday, January 11, 2016. Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Music Together, 225 Pennington-Hopewell Road (Route 654) in Hopewell.
Dr. Lyn Ransom, VOICES music director and founder, is seeking additional singers from the greater Princeton area as well as from Bucks County, PA. Singers in all voice parts with good reading skills who enjoy performing a varied repertoire are encouraged to audition. Auditions are informal and conducted in a friendly atmosphere. The Chorale’s music selections range from Renaissance to contemporary, from spirituals and show music to the sacred and classic, including choral masterworks and premieres by American composers.
, In January VOICES will begin rehearsing the Duruflé Requiem and Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine under the direction of Dr. Ransom and Emily Vite, assistant conductor for the March 6 concert at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton. The May 6 concert at St. Paul’s RC Church in Princeton will include the Fauré Requiem, Offenbach’s Neighbor’s Chorus, music from French composers and songs by Gershwin and Shearing.
Aside from concert performances, singers have the opportunity to share their talents with underserved audiences at assisted living facilities and to support the Young Composers Project for children ages 5 to 12.
VOICES Chorale meets on Monday evenings for weekly rehearsals at Music Together in Hopewell from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. Interested singers should call VOICES’ auditions coordinator Susan Evans, at (609) 291-7456, or send an email to drsevans@comcast.net, to set up an audition time.
