For dads supporting their children in Capital Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are set to receive a special Father’s Day treat from the Trenton Thunder.
The baseball team is helping the March of Dimes and Capital Health honor the fathers of premature babies at Capital Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by donating game tickets to all fathers who currently have a baby in the NICU.
The March of Dimes, which administers the NICU Family Support program at Capital Health, is set to present the tickets to the fathers accompanied by a baseball that has their baby’s footprints on it and a card saying “From your #1 Slugger.”
The NICU Family Support program addresses the needs of families in the NICU throughout hospitalization, during the transition home and in the event of a newborn death.
“Having a baby in the NICU can be very stressful on everyone in the family. NICU dads are special as they are supporting their partners as well as playing an important role in their baby’s life – learning to care for them and celebrating their victories,” March of Dimes NICU Family Support Specialist Christine Keppel said, “It can be hard being a NICU dad especially if their baby is sick, but these dads can be proud of all the things they do to help their babies, partner and other children. March of Dimes, Capital Health and Trenton Thunder are excited to recognize these NICU dads for all they do.”
