Titusville Academy, a non-profit school serving students with disabilities, appointed former Hopewell Township Chief of Police George C. Meyer to the board of trustees of the school.
Meyer, a long-time resident of Titusville, is set to serve a three year term.
Since 1975, Meyer served in the Hopewell Townships Police Department, rising in the ranks from patrol officer to Chief of Police, a position he held for eight years before retiring in January, 2014.
The recipient of numerous awards and commendations, Meyer also serves on the board of PEI Kids in Lawrenceville, a non-profit child advocacy organization serving Mercer County.
Titusville Academy serves students ages five through 21 who have learning and behavioral difficulties. Students are placed by their local school district and attend at no cost to parents.
