Producers Bob and Julie Thick are excited to announce Thom Christopher Warren from Broadway’sThe Lion King in an evening of cabaret entitled Standard Issue. Warren will appear one night only at the Off-Broadstreet Theatre Saturday April 9 at 8:15 p.m.
The show will feature songs from Broadway and the American Popular Songbook. New York performers Kate McMillan and Rose Pedone will also be appearing and musical direction is by Michael Lavine, also of New York City.
Thom Christopher Warren is beyond thrilled to be back at the OBT, where he appeared nearly thirty years ago in the theater’s production of Brighton Beach Memoirs directed by OBT Artistic Director Bob Thick.
A lifelong NJ resident, Thom currently appears in the Broadway production of Disney’s The Lion King, standing in for Scar, Zazu and Pumbaa and has worked extensively both on and off-Broadway and around the country in leading regional theaters, plus in many national touring companies. Some favorites include the Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, national tours of Into the Woods (the Baker), Godspell (Jesus) and Copacabana (Willy). Thom has had the honor of singing alongside Barry Manilow, playing the Mandalay Bay in Vegas and Madison Square Garden, and appearing in a variety of concerts celebrating the works of Stephen Sondheim at Avery Fisher Hall and NYC’s Symphony Space.
Julie and Bob Thick will host several events throughout the month of April in the newly renovated theater space before starting the much anticipated return of Off-Broadstreet’s series of Dessert Theatre Presentations.
April 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. will bring readings of A. R. Gurney’s Love Letters featuring Paul Anzano & Christine O’Brien Friday evening and Liza & Sky Morehouse Saturday evening.
Warm jazz will fill the theater April 17 at 2:30 p.m. with The Hazelrigg Brothers. The Charlie Wheeler Band will play rock and blues on Friday, April 22 at 8 p.m.
Standard Issue with Thom Christopher Warren will be at the Off-Broadstreet Theatre Saturday, April 9. Doors will open at 7:45 with performance at 8:15 p.m. You are welcome to bring beer or wine. Snacks will be available for purchase. Admission is $20.
