Off-Broadstreet Theatre’s series of plays is set to resume with The Costume Ball at the Dessert Theatre in Hopewell.
Performances are scheduled to begin Sept. 27 and run through Oct. 26.
Norman Beim’s comedy revolves around husband and wife, Gwen and Harry. In preparation for the annual Costume Ball fundraiser, Gwen dropped off Harry’s costume at the cleaners for alterations. Panic hits as Gwen suddenly realizes the ball is tonight and the cleaners is already closed. Just as Harry reluctantly tries on a gown Gwen digs up, a potential business associate, Wilbur, arrives at the door. The situation gets worse as Harry introduces himself as Hilary and the zaniness continues to escalate as Wilbur seems to really take a fancy to Hilary.
The cast includes Susan Fowler of Bucks County, Pa., as Gwen, Barry Abramowitz of Lawrenceville as Harry and Curtis Kaine of Princeton as Wilbur Wilberforce. All are Off-Broadstreet veterans; Fowler and Abramowitz were last seen in the theater’s production of Black Tie and Kaine acted in Game of Love and Chance.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The theater opens an hour before performances for dessert.
