DIVISION THREE BOYS
In their second ICL game of the season, DeSimone Orthodontics overcame a slow first half and a deficit to defeat Ewing 2 by a score of 6-2. Leading the scoring was Joshua Kohlhepp with three goals, while teammates Michael Stroman, Jackson Pfau and Louis Azara also got on the scoreboard. Goalies Dylan Drift and Herbert Carr played consistent goalie, and there were several big defensive plays and important passes to the front by Jacob Brown and Colin Szustakowski. Emerson Hoagland and Michael Moran increased time of possession for the offense, while the defense anchored by Emiliano Fernandez, Aaron Nulman and Bradley Cohen held Ewing to zero goals in the second half.
In Saturday’s game against Jack’s Nursery, Stellitano scored the first three goals on shots from Finn Murray-Campbell, Larry Kennedy and Mike Kennedy en route to a 3-1 win. Goalie Bryce Meccage made diving stops on three occasions to keep Jack’s Nursery out of the goal until late in the second half. Eddie Keifer anchored the defense throughout most of the game with solid play by wingbacks Teddy Franzino and Simeon DaPonte. The midfield was controlled in the middle by Victor Fontes Nichi, and on the outside by a combination of Richie Keifer, Corban Ballek and Andrew Sagotsky.
Sunday’s game saw Stellitano race out to a 4-0 halftime lead, scoring four more in the second half before Sourland Cycles added three late goals to finish the 8-3 game. Tallying goals were Andrew Sagotsky, Larry Kennedy (2), Mike Kennedy (2) and Finn Murray-Campbell, who finished up with a hat trick. The defense was tough with the combination of Teddy Franzino and Oliver Licciardi shutting down the attack. Richie Keifer and Victor Fontes Nichi displayed precision passing while controlling the midfield. Bryce Meccage made some key saves including stopping an early penalty kick.
Jack’s Nursery lost against Stellitano Heating & AC, scoring just one goal against Stellitano’s three. Jack’s Nursery had numerous attempts on goal by Aidan Shine, Dom Chila, Mason Scall, Daniel English and Hansol Kim throughout the game but were prevented from scoring by the strong work of Stellitano’s goalie. As goalies in first and second halves respectively, both Mason Scall and Jeffrey Blake prevented many shots, diving to the ground and leaping to the top of the net to deflect the ball. Outstanding defensive work by Cameron Chin Helped keep the opposing score low. Jack’s Nursery’s one goal was scored after Hansol Kim’s attempt bounced from the opposing goalies hands when Dom Chila was there to follow-it up and bury it into the net for the team.
Jack’s Nursery beat Carnegie Cat Clinic 3-2 on Sunday. Cameron Philips from Carnegie scored a goal in the first half with an assist from Chris Sawicki. Mason Scall from Jack’s scored two goals in the first half. Cameron Philips scored a second goal for Carnegie in the second half. Hansel Kim scored the third goal for Jack’s on a direct free kick following a foul. Mason Scall defended Jack’s goal against many shots in the second half.
Sourland Cycles lost on Saturday to Carnegie Cat Clinic 5-0. Cutter Swanson commanded his position as goal keeper first and second half. They had strong defense from Finn Malloy and Sathya Kummarapurugu. The offense, Fedia Tenbarge and Colin Hunter and Hugo Butler, worked well together and made numerous attempts at goals. Joshua Varughese, Daniel Teodorescu and Hunter Boggess dominated mid field and made Carnegie Cat Clinic fight hard for every goal they scored.
Sourland Cycles fought hard but ultimately lost to Stellitano 8-3 on Sunday. Cutter Swanson declared his goal space and rocked his position for the first half. The defense, including Finn Malloy, Holden Thompson and Daniel Teodorescu, fought hard and played with all their heart. Colin Hunter was the goal keeper in the second half, and he commanded his goal as Fedia Tenbarge, Cutter Swanson, Colin Hunter fought to get the ball down the field offensively. Their three goals came late in the second half by Joshua Varughese with assistance from midfielders Hugo Butler and Sathya Kummarapurugu.
DIVISION THREE GIRLS
Jack’s Greenhouse & Nursery defeated Ewing United Soccer Association’s blue team on Saturday in an 8-0 offense-packed game. Ewing could not stop Jack’s offense in the first half of the game as the following players scored: Zoe Dec (2 goals), Anna Gabe (3), Natalie Kasprzyk (1), Katie Clarke (1). Tessa Caputo provided excellent goalkeeping. The second half of the game saw Tessa score the only goal, while Natalie’s turn in goal kept Ewing from scoring behind the defensive work of the rest of the team.
On Sunday, Jack’s Greenhouse & Nursery faced off against The Hopewell Express in a match that resulted in a 4-2 victory. Anna Gabe and Zoe Dec scored goals in the first half for Jack’s. Hopewell Express’s Beth Hooks and Emilie Sawicki each had a goal and an assist to even the score. The teams battled back and forth in the second half until Tessa Caputo was able to send the ball into the net to break the tie. Lucy Antal received a pass from Zoe and scored to seal Jack’s victory. Outstanding net-minding by Natalie Kasprzyk along with excellent defensive work by Shinyi Li, Anna, Jaelyn Krin, Lily and Bella Gaglio kept Hopewell Express from scoring in the second half.
The D3 Dahlia Florals Pink Panthers team played the girls from Ewing on Saturday and won 4-0. Ayal Mauk scored in the first half and was assisted by Grace Stroman. Lily Panzitta also scored in the first half. In the second half, Ayla Mauk scored twice. Grace Stroman did a great job as goalie.
The next day, The Dahlia Florals Pink Panthers girls played the HVSA Royal Blue team, and lost the game 5-1. Grace Stroman scored the goal for the Pink Panthers in the second half. Catherine Zeglarski was as tenacious as ever and was breaking up plays all over the field. Emily Howe saved many shots as goalie and Rose Andreski played great offense and defense during the game.
The Hopewell Express Green Zombies defeated the Robbinsville-2 team by a score of 8-2 in a non-stop action match this past Saturday. Kyla Machinga struck first, scoring her first goal in her first game appearance as a Zombie. Robbinsville-2 played hard and had a lot of hustle, but the Hopewell Express Zombies implemented perfect positioning, ball handling and passing. Emilie Sawicki and Beth Hooks each had multiple goals and assists. Payton Tuorto’s goal keeping combined with Charlotte Catlett, Evelyn Lansing, Makayla Scherbekow, Maddy Flory and Amrit Arora’s defensive effort was something that Robbinsville-2 couldn’t solve in the first half. Robbinsville redoubled their effort to score two goals in the second half, but follow-up goals by Payton Tuorto and Beth Hooks solidified the Zombie victory.
On Sunday, The Hopewell Express Green Zombies had their first match against their HVSA opponent, Jack’s Nursery. Charlotte Catlett, Evelyn Lansing, and Amrit Arora did a spectacular job keeping the ball out of their defensive zone in the first half, and feeding the ball to Emilie Sawicki, Beth Hooks and Payton Tuorto on offensive. The forward trio move the ball perfectly to go up 2 goals to 1, with goals from Sawicki and Hooks. Having a short roster and injuries caught up with the Hopewell Express Zombies again, however, and after exhausting their last reserves of energy, Jack’s Nursery rallied two more goals to win it 2-1.
HVSA Blue Bull Exterminators defeated Robbinsville 1 on Saturday 7-1. The strong offense was led by the midfielders who controlled the pitch, consisting of Lily Ryan, Iris Lautermilch and Sonia Tenbarge, allowing four goals by Carly Brant, two goals from Amanda Flanders and one from Sierra Mitchell. The defense strongly protected their half of the pitch with Kirsten Southall, Hailey Addonizio and Piper Brant. The fifth score came from an own goal by Ewing. Goal keeping was handled well by Manvi Shah and Chelsea Kent.
On Sunday, the HVSA Blue Bull Exterminators defeated Dahlia Floral Concepts 5-1. Dahlia Florals scored early on, but the HVSA defense proved to be the deciding factor in the game, led by Kirsten Southall, Hailey Addonizio, Piper Brant, and Manvi Shah, with tremendous goal keeping by Chelsea Kent and Lily Ryan. After conceding the first goal, HVSA Blue came back with goals by Amanda Flanders and Chelsea Kent, and a hat trick by Carly Brant, with assists provided by Iris Lautermilch, Sonia Tenbarge and Sierra Mitchell.
DIVISION TWO BOYS
Pennington Quality Market played J&V Trophies on Sunday. Dylan Yasher scored PQM’s first goal of the game on a penalty kick. Henry West and Wyatt Russell fought hard to keep J&V from scoring in the first quarter. Gavin McDonough and Chris Miliaresis tried their best, but they were not able to get a goal past J&V. Aiden Luciano had a strong performance as goaltender blocking a penalty kick in the third quarter. Guiseppe Panzitta put up a great effort scoring the second goal for PQM on a penalty kick in the fourth quarter. In the end, Pennington Quality Market lost to J&V Trophies with a score of 3-2.
A solid team effort was put up by Horvath & Giacin in their tough 9-3 loss against Greenleaf Lawn & Landscaping on Saturday. Offense was led by Matviy Mykytyn, Peter Didonato, Josh Rheinhardt, Jackson Blackwell and Andrew Nalbone making several goals attempts at Greenleaf Lawn & Landscaping. Defense was often led by Samik Mookherjee, Eli Croner, Saylor Schoene and Juan Geller. Jack Thielmann and Scott Mangan worked as goalie and were able to stop many shots on goal during this tough game. Goals were provided by Matviy Mykytyn and Andrew Nalbone.
Regent Floor defeated J&V Trophies on Saturday with a final score of 6-0. Finn Garner made 4 goals and Owen Lengle made 2 goals. A better defense than with previous games with Chris Robotti, Mateo Franco-Valverde and Adam Russell blocking many attempts from J&V Trophies.
Greenleaf Landscaping played a solid game against Horvath & Giacin on Saturday, coming away with a 9-3 win. The Greenleaf Serps were led by strong goalkeeping by Abram Wojciechowicz, while Luke Rodefeld played a solid center back. Jack Gabe had three goals and Noah Pashman scored two, with both players displaying outstanding teamwork and leadership characteristics. But they weren’t alone from a scoring standpoint. Shane Sullivan, Joseph Troiano, and Finnegan “Terminator” Curley all scored as well. Overall, it was a strong showing for Greenleaf.
On Sunday, Greenleaf Landscaping added another win (8-2 versus Union Line Garage). Noah Pashman led the way with five goals, while Jack Gabe added three. Ryan Fornal played a tough and quick striker, driving the ball deep into Union Line Garage territory. Brady DeCore and Logan Paul combined to form a strong defense, keeping Union Line at two goals. Luke Rodefeld played center back, midfield, and striker, proving he has the ability to morph into any position on the field. The Greenleaf Serps ended the weekend at 3-0-1 overall, as they enter a tough third week of play.
DIVISION TWO GIRLS
The PQM Flower Shop defeated Dr. McDonough’s Live Wires on Saturday with a score of 4-1. Gianna Azara scored for PQM, with strong support from the offense consisting of Maeve Geurds, Julia Schwarz, and Kaylee Gorman. Angelyn Lin and Arya Khare kept the ball moving in midfield. Elizabeth Eckel, Addie Rhodes, Ruby Golkov, and Sonia Coppisetti ran a solid defense, as Kaelyn Gopaul, Rebekah Siegelheim, and Olivia Friedrich held strong as keepers this match.
The PQM Flower Shop ended their weekend with a win against Purtuc Dental with the score 3-0. Gianna Azara is credited with a hat trick. Kaelyn Gopaul, Kaylee Gorman, Maeve Geurds, and Sonia Copisetti were able to hold onto the win in goal with the support of the entire team.
The Red Lions lost a 3-0 decision to Burwood Landscapes & Patio on Sunday. Despite some strong offense from Meg Adelman and Caroline Ryan, the Red Lions weren’t able to muster any goals. The Lions had some opportunities but just could not get the ball into the back of the net. The Red Lions kept the game close until the fourth quarter thanks to great defense from Sophia Pellegrino and Grace Sullivan.
Burwood’s Landscapes and Patio Designs’ third game of the season ended in a 3-0 win against Purtuc Dental on Saturday, September 17th. Lilla Antel opened up the first quarter with two goals followed by a Kathryn Finn goal scored early in the second half. Lindsay and Eva Giambanco played goalie and held the shutout while Reagan Falconi provided strong support in midfield.
Burwood’s Landscapes & Patio continued their winning streak in a 3-0 win over the WMLM Red Lions on Sunday, September 18th. Lindsay Giambanco opened the scoring with an assist from Zoey Zeng. Lilla Antal added a goal to continue her streak of games with a goal, and then finished the game with strong defense. Pranathi Kummarapurugu delivered a great pass to Maya Brown, who finished the scoring with a goal of her own. Lindsay Giambanco, Maya Brown, Eva Giambanco and Kathryn Finn combined in goal for the shutout, with help from some great defensive play by Zoey Zeng and Sydney Streeper.
