Geocaching and a night hike are two of the many programs offered by the Washington Crossing State Park Nature Center in July.
A Night hike is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. July 6. This program is for age six and older. A park naturalist is set to guide participants on a night time hike and campfire. A flashlight is recommended.
Advanced registration required. Program fee is $2 per person.
Natural Dyes is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. July 13. An instructor is set to show participants how colors can be derived from wild plants and used for dying natural fabrics.
Advanced registration required. Program fee is $2 per person, children under six free.
Pond Study is scheduled for 1:30 to 3 p.m. July 14. This program open to children six to 12 years old. Participants will use pond nets to collect and examine the various organisms that inhabit a pond.

The Geology of the Appalachian Mountains and the Newark Basin is scheduled for 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. July 20. This program is intended for pre-teens through adults.
Lafayette College student Robyn Henderek is set to present a PowerPoint that outlines the formation of the Appalachians with respect to plate tectonic activity and its affect on the geology local to Washington Crossing State Park. Rocks, minerals, fossils and other specimens are set to be displayed.

Family Nature Walk is scheduled for 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. July 21. This program is an informal naturalist-guided trail walk intended for all ages. Program fee is $2 per person, children under 6 free.
Geocache Washington Crossing State Park is scheduled for 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. July 28.
Geocaching is a scavenger hunt game utilizing GPS technology to locate objects hidden among the forests, fields and trails of parks, playgrounds, natural areas and other open lands.
Participants will learn how to obtain information and hints from the geocaching.com. Then, using a handheld GPS devices participants will set out to find as many caches as possible.
Once a cache is found, participants typically will sign in on the log contained within and then take an object from the cache box after leaving a trinket for subsequent geocachers.
Participants should bring a pocket full of trinkets to exchange when they locate caches. Trinkets can include small toys and balls, plastic jewelry, pens, pencils, scratch pads, patches, action figures, coins, etc.
This program is for pre-teens through adults. Advanced registration required. A limited number of GPS navigation devices will be made available to participants.
Washington Crossing State Park is located in Titusville.
A fee of $5.00 per car ($7.00 out-of-state) will be charged to all motor vehicles entering the park for daytime programs on weekends and holidays through Monday Sept. 2.
