The Gin Game, D.L. Coburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, will open Fri., Oct. 10 at the Off-Broadstreet Theatre, 5 So. Greenwood Ave., Hopewell.
The comedy-drama follows two residents in an old persons’ home, where a casual game of Gin Rummy escalates into an “marathon duel of wit, malice and desperation”.
The characters in this two-person play will be portrayed by Pennsylvania residents Doug Kline and Carol Mancini. Both Kline and Ms. Mancini have performed at the Off-Broadstreet stage before, most recently as Alfred Doolittle in OBT’s Pygmalion and Mildred Sloan in Squabbles.
Robert Thick, co-producer at the Off-Broadstreet Theatre, is directing and designing the set for this production.
The Theatre will hold performances every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 8. Friday and Saturday evenings the doors are set to open at 7 p.m. for dessert before the curtains open at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees offer dessert at 1:30 p.m. before the curtains open at 2:30 p.m.
Admission is $29.50 on Friday and Sunday and $31.50 on Saturday. There is a senior citizen rate available for Sunday performances. A student rate of $15.00 is available for all performances. Ticket price includes dessert.
