The Mercer County Bar Association honored the Honorable Linda R. Feinberg as the 2013 recipient of the Michael J. Nizolek Award for Service to the Bar Association at its annual General Membership Meeting Oct. 29.
Judge Feinberg, who retired in 2012, has served as Presiding Judge over all the municipal courts in Mercer County.
In 1985 Judge Feinberg was appointed Judge of the Lawrence Township Municipal Court and later became the Municipal Court Judge for Hopewell and West Windsor municipal courts. In 1988, while serving as the judge for three municipal courts, Judge Feinberg also became the Presiding Judge of all of the municipal courts in Mercer County.
During her tenure as Presiding Judge, she developed and implemented an extensive community dispute resolution program that became a model for other municipalities.
Judge Feinberg was appointed by the governor to serve as Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey and soon after became the Presiding Judge of the Family Part in 1992. While serving she presided over matrimonial, domestic violence, children in court and other related family matters.
In 1997, she was appointed as the Assignment Judge of the Superior Court of the Mercer Vicinage. In addition to her administrative duties, Judge Feinberg also served as the Supervising Judge of the State Grand Jury, Chair of the Conference of Wiretap Judges and Chair of the Supreme Court Committee on Complementary Dispute Resolution. She also served as a member on the Commission on Professionalism.
Judge Feinberg retired from the bench in March of 2012 and currently is of counsel at the law firm of Szaferman, Lakind, Blumstein and Blader, P.C., where she is provides mediation services, consultation and advice.
The Nizolek Award for service to the bar is named after Michael J. Nizolek, Esquire, who served the MCBA as its president in 1992 and as trustee for many years. Nizolek was known and regarded throughout the community and legal profession for his many contributions.
Following his death in 1995, the MCBA created an award, in his name, to recognize an individual for unselfish contributions to both the legal profession and community.
