A town hall meeting on the proposed sale of Hopewell Borough’s water system has been rescheduled for Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall, borough officials have announced.
The meeting, originally set for July 31 but postponed due to a state of emergency declaration, is part of public outreach ahead of the Nov. 4 referendum on the sale to New Jersey American Water.
Officials from the borough are expected to be on hand at the meeting to outline the water system’s infrastructure needs, future operating and debt-service costs, and the potential impact on water rates and municipal taxes. They will also discuss how the sale could affect the borough’s overall fiscal health.
Representatives from New Jersey American Water will present their proposal and answer questions. The event will be broadcast on Zoom and recorded for later viewing. Additional information is available on the borough’s water website, hopewellboro-nj.us/water.
