Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton kicked off its 2nd Annual Paint the Town Pink campaign on Oct. 1. It’s a monthlong, community-wide effort in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to benefit the hospital’s Cancer Center.
Presented by Caesar’s Bagels and Deli, the initiative is led by the hospital’s Young Professionals Group and Development Committee.
Businesses and residents across Hamilton Township and surrounding Mercer County communities are invited to to decorate storefronts, light buildings, offer pink-themed specials and host events with proceeds supporting local cancer care.
“Paint the Town Pink is more than a display of color—it’s a symbol of hope, unity, and determination,” says Lisa Breza chief administrative officer for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton.
“The contributions of our community partners, neighbors, businesses, employees and families will go a long way in supporting the important work of our Cancer Center and make a difference to our patients,” Breza said.
Partners including Sky Zone Hamilton, Pickleball Kingdom, Outside the Lines Art Studio and Primo Hoagies have committed activities throughout October.
“The importance of Paint the Town Pink resonates far beyond the walls of the Cancer Center,” says Josh Harry, event chair for the Young Professionals Group. “This initiative not only helps create critical awareness around cancer prevention and treatment, but it also directly supports patients and families right here in our community.
“RWJUH Hamilton plays a vital role in our community by providing advanced care, close to home, for those who need it most. Our fundraising goal this year is just the beginning of the Young Professionals’ ongoing commitment to strengthening and supporting the patients of the Cancer Center at RWJUH Hamilton.”
A signature fundraiser, the 6th Annual Paint the Bar Pink, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Killarney’s Publick House, 1644 Whitehorse Mercerville Road in Hamilton Township.
Tickets are $35 and include two drink vouchers and an appetizer buffet. The evening features local celebrity bartenders, raffles and specialty pink drinks. Tickets are available at rwjbh.org/paintthetown.
“To me, community is family, and our Cancer Center at RWJUH Hamilton is a vital part of that family. I support this cause not only to stand and fight together, but also for my customers and my community who depend on it,” said Sezer Ates owner of Caesar’s Bagels & Deli, and this year’s presenting sponsor.
“I want to lead by example, and my hope is that other business and community leaders will join me in supporting this important work,” he said.
