Mayor Kelly Yaede presents Dana Fraytak Troiano along with students from Steinert High School, Assemblyman Dan Benson, Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello, Detective Sergeant Robert T. Miktus of the Hamilton Township Police Division and Heidi Mueller of Womanspace, Inc. a proclamation to declare Dec. 10 Community of Light Day in Hamilton.
Hamilton Mayor Kelly Yaede declared Dec. 10 Community of Light Day to help raise awareness for domestic violence.
Womanspace Inc., a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide services for individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence, organized the 11th annual Community of Light ceremony. Womanspace sold luminary kits to residents of Hamilton and 12 other Mercer County municipalities.
On Dec. 10 at dusk, participants lighted and placed the luminaries outside their residences to symbolize that “peace begins at home.” Womanspace said proceeds from luminary sales will benefit their programs.
