Steinert football players make commitments to play at the college level

The NCAA may have abolished National Letter of Intent Signing Day, but that hasn’t stopped high school athletes from celebrating their acceptance into collegiate athletic programs.

The NCAA dumped the NLI tradition in 2024 because of the sea change in college athletics when it comes to agreements between schools and athletes. Now that student-athletes can pursue remuneration through name, image and likeness rights, or NIL, the NCAA has decided to scrap the 60-year-old NLI process.

Nevertheless, Steinert football players donned their future colors and sat for a photo in March marking the occasion of their decisions.

(Technically, NCAA Division III athletics programs like at The College of New Jersey never had official National Letter of Intent signings, because the NLI was specifically an agreement promising financial aid to the athletes. Division III programs do not offer scholarships.)

Making their commitments to attend college and play football were Anthony Giglio, Kean University; Remy Feniello, TCNJ; Jon Weaver, TCNJ; Tyler Carocci, Ursinus; and Isaiah Jordan, Fairleigh Dickinson University.
