On Wednesday, September 9, 2015, Mayor Kelly Yaede and Hamilton Township will join with representatives of the NJ State Police and the Survivors of the Triangle NJ Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors to officially unveil a memorial street sign in honor of fallen State Trooper Carlos M. Negron. The dedication ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and will take place at Negron Road and Klockner Road in Hamilton.
On May 7, 1984, Trooper Negron was on routine patrol on the New Jersey Turnpike when he stopped to aid a disabled van. A gunfight ensued with one of the two occupants in the van and Trooper Negron was fatally wounded.
In 2005 the NJ State Police dedicated the Troop “C” Hamilton Headquarters to the memory of Trooper Carlos M. Negron, including the road known as Negron Road.
The formal dedication ceremony will include the participation of Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly Yaede, representatives from the NJ State Police, the participation of the NJ State Police Color Guard and NJ State Police Bagpipe Unit, NJ State Police Chaplain- Msgr. Michael T. Mannion and President of the Survivors of the Triangle, NJ Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.- Michelle Carroll.
