Morgan Elementary School was one of 15 Hamilton elementary schools that took part in a pajama fundraiser benefiting the LaLa & MiMi’s Pajama Project, a local non-profit started by Morgan twin sisters. Students were asked to donate a minimum of $3 and in exchange could wear their pajamas to school in support of the foundation’s mission — to provide basic bed time comfort for all children in New Jersey who are in need. By giving new pajamas to children, ages newborn to 18, the foundation hopes to reach those in need with compassion and dignity.
The Morgan school community has played a large role in the launch and success of LaLa & MiMi’s Pajama Project. For the last five years, students have donated over 2,000 pairs of pajamas instead of bringing presents to LaLa & MiMi’s birthday parties. This has enabled the girls to donate over 2,000 pairs of pajamas to such local organizations as HomeFront, Shine and Inspire of Mercer County, Catholic Charities, Child Services, Children Home Society and children in Hamilton Township schools.
One Morgan parent was so moved that she included the following with her donation: “LaLa & MiMi, I wanted to write you a quick note. Last night I was explaining to our daughter what your PJ project was about and why we needed to send a donation. After we talked, she went to her wallet and gave me $20 and said she wanted to help with her own money. You two inspired her and I wanted you to know. It made us very proud and my husband and I are each matching her donation. Many thanks for your donation!”
All proceeds raised from the district wide event will go to purchasing new pajamas for Hamilton elementary students in need.
