Hamilton police are investigating a house fire in the township that left one man dead.
Police were called to the fire at 75 Irving Court shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 12. Upon entering the home, firefighters located and removed an unresponsive male from the front living room.
The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be conducted by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Firefighters from Rusling Hose, DeCou, Whitehorse, Colonial, Groveville, Mercerville and Hamilton Companies had responded.
Investigators from the Hamilton Police Criminal Investigations Section, Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mercer County Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene. The fire does not appear suspicious at this time.
