The Investors Foundation awarded a $15,000, three-year grant to Catholic Youth Organization for its capital expansion project.
The grant supports a4,600 square-foot addition to the main building of CYO’s Yardville childcare center in Hamilton, which the organization broke ground on Sept. 20.
Named the Monsignor Toomey Annex in honor of CYO founder Monsignor Leonard R. Toomey, the addition is set to provide additional space for physical education classes, indoor play, staff development workshops and other meetings and activities.
CYO offers educational and recreational services that include preschools, before- and after-school programs, summer day camps, swimming lessons and youth athletic leagues. Though the organization’s mission is rooted in Catholic tradition, services are provided to youths and families regardless of their culture or religious beliefs.
The agency’s childcare programs serve more than 1,100 children daily at eight licensed sites throughout Mercer County.
“For over 60 years, CYO has been known to be a very affordable child-care option available to all working families in the area,” CYO of Mercer County executive director Thomas G. Mladenetz, said in a statement. “Our CYO programs are not only State-licensed, they are also nationally accredited, so parents have confidence in the quality of the care their children receive.”
The Investors Foundation supports non-profit organizations that enrich the quality of life in the communities the Bank serves. To date, the Foundation has dispensed more than $7 million to support initiatives ranging from community and civic improvements to the fight against diseases.
