In effort to increase communication with residents, Hamilton Township’s police division launched official Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Creation of social media accounts answer Mayor Kelly Yaede’s call for increased communication. The police division also revamped its webpage.
Part of a comprehensive approach to enhance outreach to and communication with residents, the police hope the effort will provide Hamiltonians with important police updates and public safety notices.
Residents can expect to find crime watch meeting schedules, information on police programs and services, as well as anti-crime tips, on the Police Division’s social media sites and revamped website.
Through the newly-designed website, residents can submit confidential tips, pay tickets, report street light outages, sign up for Hamilton’s emergency notification system, view a police news feed that includes missing person and severe weather notices and access links to the FBI and New Jersey’s most wanted lists.
“We are making a concerted, proactive effort to reach Hamiltonians through these outlets to better share information that can help increase public safety,” Mayor Yaede, who also serves as the township’s Public Safety director, said in a statement.
The police division’s Twitter handle is @Hamilton_Police. Links to the police division’s Twitter and Facebook pages are on their website, hamiltonnj.com/Police
In order to prevent investigations from inadvertently being jeopardized, the police division’s Facebook account will only provide information through posts and not accept public comments or messages.
Residents are encouraged to use the existing Crime Tips Hotline at (609) 581-4008 to share any valuable information they may have, which can be done anonymously. In an emergency situation, residents should always call 9-1-1.
