Teams from two Mercer County high schools are set to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Robotics Region Championship at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
Hamilton West High School and Hightstown High School robotics teamed qualified for the competition scheduled for the weekend of April 11.
Team Hamilton West Robotics, comprised of 15 students, formed in 2007.
They are set to travel with their robot Mr. Scoops, which has large googly eyes, eyebrows and an orange, black and white frame.
Hightstown High School has 40 students on their robotics team called Team Mercury.
The team has a few years on its Mercer County competitor. It was formed 11 years ago.
The Mercer County teams will compete against 50 others from Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Students are challenged to guide their robots through the Ultimate Assent, which requires them to throw Frisbee-like discs into goals and then climb a pyramid.
The winner from the Mid-Atlantic Region Championship will advance to the World Championships in St. Louis, Mo. in April.
