Crockett Middle School students participated in a fire safety program sponsored by Hamilton Township School District and local fire departments.
The school had the most participants in the program, thus winning a contest sponsored by the fire departments. The departments awarded $1,000 to the student council
The program, titled “Fire Is,” features a realistic approach to the hazards of fire and offers practical ways to stay safe. “Fire Is” is comprised of six education videos, which were shown in health and science classes.
In addition, the videos were made available to parents in an effort to educate families about the importance of fire safety and evacuating safely.
Crockett students also signed a pledge to take a stand against fire by learning the importance of fire safety and practicing fire safety skills all year.
This program was supported with a grant from the State of New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness to the New Jersey Firefighter’s Benevolent Association.
