Woodrow Wilson Middle School teacher Connie Goochie learns to evaluate the smell of brown seaweed, one of the ingredients in biopolymers used to thicken dairy products, while Amy Northwest High School teacher Rebecca Haldeman-Newschaffer watches at FMC’s Research and Development Center in Ewing.
Scientists at FMC’s Corporation’s Research and Development Center in Ewing welcomes teachers for a look at the facility.
Twelve teachers from Philadelphia schools toured the building and watched scientists demonstrate innovations, which may inspire hands-on activities for students.
The tour was funded by FMC’s $100,000 Teaching the Science of Curiosity grant, which is also sponsoring free summer science courses at the Franklin Institute.
