Orchid by A-TEAM artist Patrick Bowen.
PEAC Health and Fitness is set to display artwork by Trenton Area Soup Kitchen’s A-TEAM artist group in September.
Created in 2001, the A-TEAM is a group of self-taught artists who regularly use the services of the soup kitchen. The group is open to everyone in the soup kitchen community and to their friends and families in the Trenton area.
Group members, currently 38 individuals, meet weekly at TASK to create artwork in a wide variety of media, including paint, pencil, ink, pastels and found-object construction.
A-TEAM artwork is on display and for sale year-round at TASK, as well as in a number of Trenton-based organizations, such as the Reading Senior Center, the Henry J. Austin Health Clinics, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, the City of Trenton Municipal Court and the Center for Health Care Strategies.
All proceeds from the sale of A-TEAM artwork go directly to the artists.
The A-TEAM is an independent business entity run by the artists. The artists hold monthly business meetings to plan shows and other projects, make policy and budgetary decisions, and to host visits from other artists as well as from curators and interested individuals from Trenton and the surrounding communities
The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen is a private, nonprofit organization that has been feeding the hungry for more than 20 years. It also provides adult education, computer classes, and an arts program that includes studio time for visual artists, musicians and writers.
PEAC is located at 1440 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing.
