PEAC Health & Fitness is set to display work by two local artists with autism in conjunction with its Runway to Runway fundraiser, which benefits the Sunshine Foundation.
Pennington resident Tyler Bell is 21 years old and recently joined PEAC’s staff. His mother, Liz Bell, said her son has been visually oriented since he was young, and painting provides him with a joyful and creative outlet for expression that contrasts with his difficulties with language.
“Tyler’s paintings represent his wonderful sense of color, as well as his unique perspective on life, Liz Bell said in a statement.
His paintings have been exhibited at Hopewell Valley Vineyards, Small World Coffee, Sumo Sushi, and Hopewell Valley Bistro, as well as sold at a variety of charity events across the country.
Bridgewater resident James Hogarth is 25 years old and joined the PEAC staff in 2010. His love of drawing began at age four and has continued to blossom into his adulthood. James’s drawings usually portray common objects, people and animals.
“He is extremely detail oriented in his drawings,” said his father, Charlie Hogarth said in a statement, “he has an original and colorful way of interpreting his subjects.”
James’s artwork has been featured on Toys R Us holiday cards and tote bags.
Bell and Hogarth will each donate artwork to the silent auction for PEAC’s Runway to Runway fundraiser. Their work, as well as donated pieces from other local artists and businesses, will be displayed as part of the auction at PEAC in March.
PEAC’s seventh annual Runway to Runway Fundraiser is scheduled for March 29.
