The Ewing Arts Commission and Art Has No Boundaries will feature artwork by two generations of Ewing public servants as part of the Artist of the Month program.
Works by long-time township employee Leo Roberts will be on display at the Ewing municipal building along with works by his father, the late Ewing Police Lt. Leo Roberts. The Roberts’s works will be on display through the end of August.
The younger Roberts was born and raised in Ewing Township and attended the Ewing Public Schools. His formal art training came from Mercer County Technical Schools for commercial art, as well as Mercer County Community College. He is retired from the Township of Ewing Recreation Department.
Roberts inherited his artistic ability from his father, a fine artist in his own right, and a composite artist for the Ewing Township Police Department, said a press release. Several of Lt. Roberts’ pieces will be displayed along side his son’s.
“Leo’s landscapes capture light and movement so exquisitely but equally impressive is his portraiture work,” said Art Has No Boundaries principal Melissa Bennett.
In addition to two dimensional art, Roberts also enjoys building models. His model German cruiser Admiral Graf Spee, which he says he built for his father out of a piece of wood from Adolf Hitler’s yacht, will also be on display during the month of August.
