The Ewing branch of the Mercer County Library has released its schedule of events for May. Parents must remain in the library with their children for most programs.
Weekly Storytimes and Activities for Children/Teens:
On Mondays, May 2, 9, 16 and 23: Toddler STEM Program for ages 1-3 at 10 a.m.; Happy Two’s Activity Time for children age 2 years at 11 a.m.; and Messy Play Craft Time for children, ages 2-3, at 2 p.m. Bring a smock or old tee-shirt.
On Tuesday, May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31: Read and Play Storytime for children, ages 2-5, at 10:30 a.m.; Play Group with Stories for children, ages 3-5, between 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.; Open Craft for School-Age children grades K-5 at 4:30 p.m.
On Wednesdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25: Cat, Hat, Sat rhyming words activity time for children, ages 3-4, at 10 a.m.; Open Lego Play Program for school age children at 4:30 p.m.
On Thursdays, May 5, 12, 19 and 26: Mother Goose Storytime for children, ages infants to 18 months, at 10:30 a.m.; Scribble Time, for children ages 12 months to 36 months at 11 a.m.
On Fridays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27: Preschool Storytime for children ages 4-5 at 10 a.m.; Play Dough creations/ Lego based on story time theme for children, ages 2-5, at 11 a.m.

Take Home Craft: The library will supply materials to make a Minecraft project.
Children’s Book Week, May 2 to 8: Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Every year, commemorative events are held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, homes and wherever young readers and books connect.
Book Discussion and Food Bonanza for preschoolers, Monday, May 2, noon: “If an Armadillo Went to a Restaurant” by Ellen Fischer will be read.
Book Exchange for Grades 5-8, Tuesday, May 3, 7 p.m.: Bring a book from your home library, and exchange it for a new book to read.
Teens make a Mother’s Day craft, Wednesday, May 4, 7 p.m.
Bad Kitty Party, children in grades K-2, Thursday, May 7, 1 p.m. Books, crafts and refreshments!
Chess Club, Sunday, May 1, 8, 22 and 29, 3 to 4 p.m., for children ages K-5.
Crazy 8s Bedtime Math for children in grades 3 to 5, Monday, May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, 4:30-5 p.m. A math club that is totally fun! You’ll get to do mischief-making activities like glow-in-the-dark geometry, bouncy dice and toilet paper Olympics.
Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, chips and salsa, music and craft, Thursday, May 5, 4 p.m. Free event for all ages.
Mother’s Day Craft, for children in grades K-5, Friday, May 6, 4 p.m.
Sing-A-Long with Pat McKinley, for children, ages birth-7 years, with adult in the program, Friday, May 20, 11:30 a.m.
Read to Breezy, the Therapy Dog, for children in grades 1-3, Thursday, May 5, 12, 19 and 26, 4:30 p.m.
Teens Read to Preschoolers, May 15 and May 22, 1 to 3 p.m. Teen and caregivers of preschoolers need to register online or call the Library. Need student volunteers. Receive community service hours! Parents of preschoolers must remain in the program.

Adult Coloring Club: Tuesday, May 3, 11 a.m..; Thursday, May 12, 7 p.m.; Tuesday, May 17, 11 a.m.; Thursday, May 26, 7 p.m. Meets every week, alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays. Coloring books and markers/colored pencils will be provided.
Fitness for Seniors and the Active Aging: Wednesdays, May 4, May 11, May 18 and Wednesday, May 25, 11 a.m. Presented by Bob Kirby. Enjoy the benefits of stretching and low-impact exercises while learning how staying fit can improve balance, posture, flexibility and endurance.
The Way to Peace and Prosperity: Wednesday, May 4, 7 p.m. Presented by Sutinder Dhanjal. A discussion about cultivating peace and prosperity in any community or country and learn the seven major factors which need to be present, and in a certain sequence, for them to prevail. Registration required.
Financial Wellness Seminar: Tuesday, May 10, 7 p.m. Presented by Kheeda Gopaul of Primerica. The seminar is geared towards helping families and individual adults to become debt free and make the best use of their income. It also touches on the importance of life insurance and how families benefit from having the right coverage when loved ones pass on. Registration required.
Yarnworks: Monday, May 2, 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 7, 2 p.m. and Monday, May 23, 7 p.m. Presented by Lee Pellegrino. Join fellow knitters and crocheters and tackle a new project or work on one you’ve already started.

Go, van Gogh! Wednesday, May 25, 7 p.m. Presented by Dr. Mike Norris. Join the former museum educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to discuss and examine some of the 2,000 works of art Vincent van Gogh produced in his last decade. Registration required.
Special Documentary: He Named Me Malala: Friday, May 13, 1 p.m. A look at the events leading up to the Taliban’s attack on Pakistani schoolgirl, Malala Yousafzai, for speaking out on girls’ education followed by the aftermath, including her speech to the United Nations.
