The Computer Learning Center is set to present the free program, “Maintaining and Protecting Your Legacy,” on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. The session will take place in the Ewing Senior and Community Center located at 999 Lower Ferry Road.
While exact numbers vary, most experts agree that about 15 million U.S. residents have their identities fraudulently used each year with financial losses totaling upwards of $50 billion. Schemes abound and the problem is growing worse.
On February 2, John A. Seber will present his views on “Maintaining and Protecting Your Legacy.” Specifically, he will look at lessons to be learned from Identity Theft victims’ real-life experiences; what happens to unclaimed and/or abandoned property; and how best to manage critical financial and personal information, particularly in today’s high tech world.
Seber’s career has been dedicated to designing and implementing financial systems at several major corporations including AT&T/Lucent Technologies. His corporate experience included directing Unclaimed/Abandoned Property applications, as well as incidents of fraud, including the implementation of prevention techniques. He has also had significant first-hand personal experience with identity theft. His current ventures, LegacyBackup.com and MyLegacyBackup.com, were created in the spirit of giving to and helping others faced with these challenges.
A part of the CLC’s public service “Computer Tips & Tricks” series, the program will be preceded at 1:30 p.m. by “Q and A’s with the CLC Faculty” when attendees can seek answers to their own computer-related questions. Both programs are free and no prior registration is required.
