Ewing Township has approved a contract with the EASEL Animal Rescue League to manage the Ewing Animal Shelter beginning in January.
According to Jim McManimon, Ewing business administrator, the township had been working with EASEL to manage the shelter for several years without a contract. After the public bidding process, the town awarded EASEL a three- year contract with the option of two one year renewals.
“The working relationship has been very good, said McManimon. “This helps Ewing Township long term and helps EASEL with their planning and support.”
“Not only does this contract increase animal adoptions, but saves Ewing taxpayers money,” said Karen Azarchi, president of EASEL., “Easel has many wonderful volunteers who come each day to care for the cats, walk, train and socialize the dogs. We couldn’t do this without them.”
