Wendy Sturgeon has been installed as the new executive director of Easel Animal Rescue League.
Sturgeon comes to the Ewing-based non-profit animal welfare organization after having spent the last six years serving on the board of the Lady Margaret Animal Foundation, and most recently, its former president.
“I am excited to join Easel and look forward to working with their team and Ewing Township, to help expand their resources and partner with both the business and the community in Mercer County,” said Sturgeon. “I am fortunate to be joining such a respected and caring organization.”
Sturgeon, a resident of Hamilton Township, has spent her career in the field of advertising, marketing and public relations.
In addition to running her own consulting business, she also worked in a number of positions, including community development director and business ombudsman for East Windsor Township, confidential aide to Mercer County Freeholder Lucylle Walter, and director of marketing and public relations for Allies, Inc.
“Wendy will play a key role in helping Easel to continue to provide much needed services, by expanding our relationships with businesses and the Mercer County community,” Ewing Mayor Bert Steinmann said. “We are happy she has joined Easel to help them continue to perform such a needed service for unwanted animals.”
Easel, which is a no-kill organization, was contracted to manage the Ewing Township Animal Shelter in 2015. “Partnering with Ewing Township has helped to cut expenses to taxpayers nearly in half. In 2016 alone, Easel found homes for over 600 dogs and cats,” said an Easel press release.
