The Central Jersey Choral Society is seeking singers of all ability levels to join the organization at a New Member Welcome Night on Sept. 11.
The event will be held at the Ewing Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m., preceding the usual rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Singers are welcome to attend, meet current members, learn about CJCS and be heard for proper placement.
“One of Mercer County’s fastest-growing and oldest arts organizations, CJCS members enjoy learning about the music, composers and their own musical abilities as they prepare and perform a variety of classical choral works under the direction of artistic director Christopher Loeffler,” says a CJCS press release.
For the coming season, CJCS will be rehearsing and performing Bach’s fugues set to Psalm 130 and a selection of Psalms by Mendelssohn for performances in January 2018. In Spring 2018, CJCS will rehearse and perform the Dvorák Requiem.
Loeffler encourages adult singers of all ages and experience levels to join—while some in CJCS are professionally trained, most are not, and choir members enjoy the chance to improve their skills and each other’s company. No formal auditions are required.

The Central Jersey Choral Society is Mercer County’s second oldest arts group. It was formed in 1949 at the request of the Trenton Junior Chamber of Commerce as the Trenton Community Chorus and later became the Mercer County Chorus and the Greater Trenton Choral Society.
