14-year-old Ewing resident Kerrion Upshur took home the $1,000 Grand Prize in his age category at the DEBORAH Hospital Foundations third annual Deborah Idol on Oct. 18.
His a capella rendition of John Legend’s “All of Me” earned him the award of “Fan Favorite.” Just the week before, Upshur won third place singing Sam Cook’s “Change is Gonna Come” at Trenton’s Big Easy Teen Talent Showcase.
A member of the Greater Princeton Youth Choir and Ewing High School’s Master Singers, Kerrion’s connection with music can be traced back to him harmonizing with his father at just 3 years old. An active youth at Trenton’s Lighthouse Outreach Ministry, Kerrion’s love for music has no borders. While gospel music is the foundation from which his talent has blossomed, he continues to explore other diverse genres.
Since 1974, DEBORAH Hospital Foundation has dedicated its energies to raising critically needed funds to support the humanitarian mission of DEBORAH Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills.
