The Mercer County Park Festival Grounds is set to kick off its spring/summer 2015 concert season with a show by Piano Men: A Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joelon Saturday, June 6. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. The show will be concluded with a fireworks display.
The show stars Broadway’s Craig A. Meyer and Donnie Kehr.
Craig A. Meyer and Donnie Kehr are seasoned Broadway performers, musicians and television/film actors. On Broadway, Meyer created the role of Clinton Badger in MGM’s classic “Meet Me in St. Louis” and toured nationally in “Cats” as Skimbleshanks. Meyer worked with Alan Menken on Disney’s “Aladdin,” and with Tim Rice and Elton John on “The Lion King.” Meyer has also appeared in the television series “Will & Grace” and the film “Leatherheads” with George Clooney.
Kehr has played featured roles in such landmark musicals as “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” “The Who’s Tommy,” “Billy Elliot: The Musical” and “Jersey Boys.” In 2004, Kehr created the role of Gyp De Carlo in the groundbreaking La Jolla Playhouse production of “Jersey Boys” and was the first to play Norm Waxman in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production. Now playing Waxman on screen, Kehr is the only star from the original La Jolla production to play a major role in Clint Eastwood’s 2014 film, “Jersey Boys.”
Tickets are on sale now through ComcastTIX.com and will cost $20 for a reserved seat and $10 for a lawn seat. A ticket can be purchased the day of the concert beginning at 2 p.m. from the Mercer County Ice Skating Center Ticket Office and parking will be free the day of the concert. Concert-goers who purchase a lawn seat are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets. Drink and food vendors will be on site; no outside food or alcohol will be permitted into the Mercer County Park Festival Grounds. Rain date for the show is Sunday, June 7.
