During their November meeting, Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer became the 1000th “student” to be trained in the area of spotting child sexual abuse by the Coalition members and volunteers of PEI Kids of Mercer County. Through their Enough Abuse community workshop, Director of Prevention Services Melody Powell and her volunteers have trained 1,000 people how to prevent, identify and respond to child sexual abuse in Mercer County.
“We were thrilled to be PEI Kids 1000th “student” during 2014,” said Mary Brandt, Co- President of Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer. “Our mission is to enhance the status of women and children and learning how to prevent child sexual abuse is of major concern. We support PEI Kids in all their efforts (received the 2012 Gourmet Garden Grant) and are pleased to join them in this work. The training we received will help us help the children in our homes and communities.”
