Several local artists won awards for work submitted to the Mercer County Artists 2014 exhibition.

The exhibition features 96 works by 75 artists and includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, as well as mixed media collages and sculptures in clay, found art and recycled materials.

Gallery director Dylan Wolfe announced award winners with fellow presenters Tricia Fagan and Nora Añanos from the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission during the opening reception on March 13.

The Pennington School Gallery curator Dallas Piotrowski served as judge.

Michelle Rothwell, of Trenton, won the Utrecht Best in Show Prize for Passion Turbo, a pigment ink on paper. Rothwell sculpted forms from a virtual blob of clay using the same 3-D tools used by game designers and film animators.

Princeton resident Mary Atlas and Lawrenceville resident Helene Plank won Juror’s Choice Awards. Plank also won a County Purchase Award.

Jurors awarded County Purchase Awards to Princeton resident Ilene Dube, Hightstown resident Susan Luty, and Churchville resident Kathleen Wallace.

The exhibition set to be displayed through April 3 at the Gallery at Mercer County Community College.

The Gallery at Mercer is located on the second floor of the Communications Building on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
