At 3.7 percent, Mercer County had the highest rate of employment growth among New Jersey 15 largest counties from the fourth quarter of 2013 to the fourth quarter of 2014, according to a new study by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) study indicates that New Jersey’s “Capital County” led the state in overall employment growth. The BLS said that it compared data from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the fourth quarter of 2013 and found that among New Jersey counties with 75,000 or more workers, Mercer held a leading 3.7 percent employment growth.
BLS indicates Mercer ranked 5th in the State of New Jersey for the weekly average wage at $1,306. This rate not only topped the statewide average of $1,211 but also handily surpassed the national average of $1,035.
Earlier this year, the county executive touted that the data-driven Forbes Magazine lists Mercer County among the top 100 Best Places nationally for Business & Careers, among the top 50 in Job Growth and among the top 25 in Education.
