The Yardley Players are set to present Meet Me in St. Louis at Kelsey Theatre in July.
Meet Me in St. Louis is based on the 1944 film of the same name starring Judy Garland. The musical features classic songs like “Trolley Song,” “Skip to My Lou,” “The Boy Next Door” and the title song.
The musical centers on the Smith family who lives in St. Louis, Mo., a proud American town at the start of a new century brimming with possibilities.
The Smith family children have plenty of their own possibilities brewing. Romance swirls around young Esther Smith and her neighbor, John Truitt, while Rose is instantly smitten by her elder brother’s handsome friend, Douglas Moore. But, Mr. Smith is having financial worries that may mean a sudden move to New York City and an end to the good times and the only home the family has ever known.
Starring as members of the Smith family are Fred Gropper (Yardley, Pa.) as Mr. Smith, Maureen Hackett (Robbinsville) as Mrs. Smith, Brent Tuccillo (Hamilton) as Lon Smith, Brooke Calderon (Yardley, Pa.), as Rose Smith, Colleen McDonald (East Windsor) as Esther Smith, Makenna Katz (West Windsor) as young Agnes Smith, and Shealyn Davis (Newtown, Pa.) as young Tootie Smith.
The cast also features Jacob Kinderman, Jordan Virgil (East Windsor); Justin Ghaffor, Joshua Ramos (Hamilton); Shannon Bruecker (Howell); Gene Pullen (New Egypt); Brian Davis (Newtown, Pa.); Walter Smyth (Trevose, Pa.,); Jonathan Logan, Charlotte Singh (West Windsor Township); and Jason Diaz.
Ensemble, dancers and chorus members include Stacy Danka (Allentown); Marina McLaughlin (Columbus); Marissa Marciano (Cranbury); Shannon Flanagan, Courtney Kosman (East Windsor Township); Katelyn Dunkel, Nicholas Kianka, Mary Parker, Bridget Sweeney, Andrew Wahby (Hamilton Township); Mary Burke (Kendall Park); Jordan Hayes (Langhorne, Pa.); Christina Pullen (New Egypt); Marissa Carroll (Princeton); Abigail Kenna (Robbinsville); Victoria Cohn of (West Berlin); Daniel Brugger, Jeanette Smith, Gretchen Zimmer (West Windsor Township); and Joanna Haupt (Westfield).
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. July 18, 19, 25 and 26; and 2 p.m. July 20 and 27 at Kelsey Theatre, located on the Mercer County Community College’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. An opening night reception with the cast and crew is set to follow the July 18 show.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $16 for students and children.
