Students of John Witherspoon Middle School have accepted New Jersey’s Student Change Hunger Challenge, undertaking a goal to collect 3,000 lbs of food in the next two weeks.
Students are collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations between now and Nov. 20. Donations may be deposited at the middle school’s main office, 217 Walnut Lane, or at any of the following locations: Dr. Hudis, 187 N. Harrison St.; Dr. Russo & Dr.Nicozisis, 601 Ewing St.; Infini-T Cafe, 4 Hulfish St.; McCaffrey’s Princeton, 301 N Harrison St.; Mike’s Barber, 33 Witherspoon Rd.; Princeton Police Station (starting Nov. 10); Princeton Public Schools Administration Building, 25 Valley Rd.; Shoprite, Princeton, rt. 206; Star Glow, Princeton, rt. 206; The Savory Spice Shop, 15 Spring St.; and T.J Pizza, 2661 Main St. Lawrenceville.
Those who wish to make a monetary donation should make checks payable to “Mercer Street Friends” with “JWMS SCHC” in the memo line. Every $1 donated buys one pound of food.
All donations will be given to Mercer Street Friends to benefit over 40 food pantries. Students will collect and weigh food daily and the school that donates the most pounds of food will be awarded the “Governor’s Cup”. For more information about the food drive email JWMS teachers @kelly_riely@princetonk12.org or ashante_thompson@princetonk12.org.
