Each year, Bordentown Regional High School and the Bordentown Regional School District provide a basket of Thanksgiving supplies to families in need. This year, donations were received from our student body, the “Bordentown Is On Point Program,” the Bordentown Township Police Department, the Rotary Club of Bordentown and BRSD faculty and staff. The donations allowed students to distribute 60 baskets to families in need.
Thanks to the leadership of high school teachers Michele Brennan, Cindy Wagstaff and Jodie Glenn, the staff and student body prepared and served dinner to families on Nov. 21 in the high school cafeteria.
The success of the dinner is due to the efforts of the entire school community. Cash donations were collected from faculty in lieu of dressing in jeans for one day. Faculty and students volunteered their time to cook turkeys or side dishes at home. Local businesses such as Ocean Spray, Toscano Ristorante, Oliver a bistro, Dubh Linn Square, Chickie and Pete’s, Villa Mannino, Villaggio Iccara, and ACME Markets of Bordentown showed their support by donating products and/or prepared food. Students in the Spanish III, Modern Global Issues and Family & Consumer Science classes prepared food as part of their contribution. The Spanish Club created centerpieces, wrapped cutlery and made goodie bags. The “Bordentown Is On Point” program organized the collection of supplies and donations.
Within two weeks, everyone was able to work together as a community to make a positive impact on the lives of our district’s families.
