Paula Mann, a Bordentown Regional Middle School special education Language Arts teacher, was nominated and selected to receive the 2015 Jack Zaifman Humanitarian Award. The Zaifman family has initiated this award to honor their father Jack, who is a Holocaust survivor. The award goes to an educator who has demonstrated outstanding efforts in teaching the Holocaust and genocide in their classroom, as well as issues of bias, prejudice, bigotry and bullying.
Mann was presented the award at the May 20, 2015 Board of Education Meeting by Larry Glaser, the assistant executive director of the NJ Commission on Holocaust Education. This award, provided by Jack Zaifman’s family, includes a monetary award to be used to continue and enhance the educator’s own classroom teaching of Holocaust/genocide and a classroom set of Jack Zaifman’s remarkable book, co-authored by Deanna Sass, “Tailor Made for Life…The Story of Survival During the Nazi Holocaust.”
